Kim Kardashian has unfolded about her meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump
The keeping up with the Kardashians star attended a meeting with Trump at the White House in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, 30 may to debate jail reform and also the plight of Alice Marie Johnson.
The 69-year-old great-grandmother is currently serving a prison term without parole at the Aliceville correctional Facility in Alabama, for her first, non-violent drug offence.
In an interview with Mic.com following the meeting, the reality television star shared that the president had been adjuvant of the campaign.
“I suppose that he really spent the time to listen to our case that we were making for Alice [Johnson],” Kim shared.
“He really understood, and that i am very hopeful that this may end up very positively.”
Since discovering the case last year, Kim and her lawyer shawn Holley, alongside the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, have been petitioning for clemency for Johnson.
Kim admitted that the work of Kushner, who is a senior advisor to his father-in-law and recently encouraged him to back a prison reform bill that passed the House, had been pivotal for the campaign, leaving the president with a “passion” for the cause
“I went in, me and Shawn, to really talk to the president about Alice Johnson and really explain to him why she would be such a good person to grant clemency to,” the 37-year-old continued.
“The president seems to have a passion for what (sic) everything that Jared has been trying to do, and that just makes me happy that that conversation is just moving forward.”
