JENNIFER Lawrence has made the surprising revelation that she left high school at the age of just 14, saying she “never felt smart”.
JENNIFER Lawrence could be a lot of things — an Oscar winner, a bona fide movie star, an outspoken advocate for women — however she isn’t a high school graduate.
“I dropped out of secondary school,” the Red Sparrow star, 27, revealed to 60 minutes in a phase airing Sunday. “I don’t technically have a GED (equivalent to an HSC) or a diploma. I’m self-educated.”
She explained, “I struggled through college. I ne’er felt terribly smart. And when I’m reading the script and that i desire i do know precisely what it might seem like if someone felt that way, that was a whole a part of my brain that I didn’t even understand existed, one thing I can be assured in, and that i didn’t need to let it go.”
Lawrence firmly denied having any regret for dropping out of middle school as a result of it, sealed the way for her mega-stardom today.
“I wished to forge my very own path,” she said. “I found what I needed to try and do and i didn’t want something getting in the way of it. Even friends, for several years, weren’t as necessary to me as my career.”
Lawrence antecedently spoke of her lack of education in a 2013 Vanity Fair profile, however called herself “vastly uneducated” at the time instead of “self-educated.”
