The Director general of standard organization Nigeria (SON), Mr Osita Aboloma, has called on the general public not to compromise on excellent through contacting the organisation anytime they come upon made in Nigeria products that do not have a certification logo.
Explaining the certification or satisfactory emblem, the DG said made in Nigeria products are stamped with mandatory Conformity evaluation Programme (MANCAP) while the goods intended for export can be stamped with the Offshore Conformity assessment Programme (SONCAP) mark.
speaking at the Lagos worldwide trade fair the day before today, Aboloma confident clients that SON is currently operating toward product authentication to ensure that purchasers can know if a product is unique or faux.
“There are humans producing fake products. Such merchandise are encroaching at the unique ones. With every stage of success, there are challenges. Whoever is stuck faking products might be despatched to prison via the SON Act. The regulation has empowered us to do this,” he said.
declaring the recommendations for certification, the representative of the DG, Mrs Margaret Essiet, said “before a product may be licensed, you should be a manufacturer or producer. Our nation offices will ensure they go to the region of the commercial enterprise for inspection to make sure it meets requirements.
“no longer assembly the standards does now not mean the organization wil be closed down. as an alternative, they will be educated on the way to meet the standards and the areas they need to improve so that they could not keep to provide substandard products.
“The standards specify what the satisfactory must be. If the technique meets the required pleasant, we will start processing for MANCAP. inside a maximum of 60 days, MANCAP certification can be issued,” she stated.
